  2. If someone was not convinced that they could integrate technology into their classroom, I would advise them to either take a class for integrating technology into the classroom, ask fellow teachers how they go about integrating technology into the classroom, and/or observe another teacher who does integrate technology. THis will help them understand how much more attentive students are when integrating technology and it will help them get ideas for integrating technology.

  3. If there is an educator that feels that they are not convinced on how to integrate technology into the classroom they should do more research. Personally, I feel that teachers need to use all of their resources to figure out what is the best learning strategies for their classroom. They need to go online and visit some of these great websites that offer many different lessons on integrating technology. They should also consider visting www.smartexhange.com where they can find hundreds of free lessons that can be used with Smartboards. I know that integrating technology can be intimidating to a lot of "old school" teaching styles but if you use your resource and educate yourself on the topic it will become easier and in the end it will be very beneficial to the students. Last but not least maybe some of the educators that are not convinced should take a class on integrating technology, much like the one we are in now. I was nervous about it at first and honestly may not have integrated as much as I will know that I have learned so much.

  4. I believe that if an educator is convinced that they cannot integrate technology into the classroom it is because they don't want to. Integrating technology requires educators to use multiple resources, engage in professional development and put in the extra effort to enhance their lessons. Technology integration is widely beneficial for students and educators should put in the time and effort to commit to implementing technology into their lessons and routines. Technology is a large portion of a productive society and is crucial for students to learn now. Teachers have access to professional development, classes, and other professionals who are able to help educate them on the topic.

  5. My mom struggles with this constantly. She isn't the swiftest when it comes to technology and uses that as an excuse sometimes. I always tell her that there tons of resources out there that she can use even though she doesn't have a SMARTboard. Educators can take professional development classes to keep up with the current technology out there, but sometimes the teachers are only offered 3 or 4 hour workshops that overwhelms them and they do not have enough time to master any of the material. There needs to be a way that educators can obtain the confidence to go out and look for technology to use. There are always options.

  6. If a teacher felt that they could not integrate technology into their classroom I would invite them into a classroom that successfully integrates technology. I think that they would be pleasantly surprised how useful technology is in the classroom. Technology is a huge motivator for many students and keeps them highly engaged. I would also show them research that supports that technology increases assessment scores. For example, SMART Board research from Marzano Research Laboratories that found an immediate increase in test scores by 17% once SMART Boards were included in instruction.

  7. I would suggest consulting with educators who do integrate technology in the classroom. The educator could share easy ways to integrate technology in the classroom and as the teacher felt more comfortable, they could add more. I would also suggest locating resources on the topic as well as speaking with the school's technology person and/or the principle for suggestions.

  8. If you are not convinced that you can integrate technology, you can work with other teachers and technology instructors towards integration. Also, teachers can attend professional development opportunities for ideas on how to integrate technology into the classroom. There are many online tutorials also, as well as other available online resources. There is really no excuse for ignorance in technology integration, as there are many resources available for those concerned with this topic.
